We spent most of our time,
and all of our money at the local five and dime
scooping up all the “I love yous” that were on the shelves that day.

Then we ran with them to the car,
giddy and happy to have as many as we could hold
in our arms.
It wasn’t until later that day
that we heard we had found the last “I love yous” in the country
and it’s really too bad, cause we used them all up
on that first day.

Now we can’t think of anything else to say to each other.
