Existentialism

Humility walks on crimson coals
along a path of important words
not rightfully ours for giving.
And so it finds sanctuary
in our minds and in our blood
as traffic lights stop us from
taking raindrops in our mouths,
and it stops our brains from
inspiring hungry thoughts
of any arrogant quality.
It only allows us to think of history,
and to put on candy coats of philosophy,
and I rub my hands on top of flaming
lolli-pops hoping to find obscurity
in this small world in which living
without consummation is a fact
and living with disconsolation
is a way to subsist
without promising tomorrow
to any hungry minds
waiting in front of doors
past our docility
and past our final call.
