Yes,
I realize it took some time...
much longer than we both expected.
So now I must come clean, and honestly admit to you...
that you've finally made your way into my heart.

I do have to say though,
that you shouldn't do things like that...
Putting something into a heart really, really hurts.
People can, and do, die from such actions.
Technically, the only substance that should be in there is blood.
Let's loosely compare this to an ear, and an ear cleaner...
You don't put the ear cleaner into the ear canal...
this too can hurt, and cause serious damage.
You gently swab the outer part of the ear...
It sometimes feels good,
and of course keeps things nice and clean.
You don't just forcefully jam it in there...
It doesn't belong in there...
You can go deaf!

Anyway...
this whole invasive-heart-entry-thing you did...
...and the related distress?
This is something I figured you would have known about...
our bodies have millions of nerve endings, after all.
How did you expect it not to cause some discomfort?

But, you're there now...
I would suppose there is some method for extraction...
But, can I honestly tell you something else?...

I never once winced,
flinched,
or screamed in agony...

I never scheduled a doctor appointment,
nor did I search for some kind of home remedy.

Because...
it's not a condition that I want to be cured of...
I find these symptoms to be...
absolutely...
amazing.

I can remember when I would struggle with the unpleasantness...
these new feelings I didn't know how to deal with...
Lying awake at night, frustrated by my aching heart.
And just about when I'd recover,
you'd move in a little further,
and the cycle would repeat,
again, and again, and again...
I would cry at the intensity...
I would clutch my chest and whisper your name...
I would often wonder...
Why would you ever do this to me?...

I think by now you get what I'm saying...
this isn't rockets and science, after all.
So maybe while I'm at it,
let me tell you one thing more,
very honestly...
You shouldn't have done this to me now...
you should have done it,
a long, long time ago.

You should just

Write a book.
