I Held a Rainbow

I held a rainbow,
In the palm of my hand.
Foolishly I let it fall,
Like windblown sand.

To pick up the pieces,
I would give my life.
I feel I've lost all hope,
of having her as my wife.

Twas no fault of hers,
But all of mine.
I expected too much,
couldn't draw the line.

In loving her as I did,
I only end in hurting her.
Though she'll say it's a lie,
I know I did, Im sure.

I know of my faults,
and where I went wrong.
I just couldnt let it be,
I just couldnt be strong.

Now I must pay,
for the weakness I hold.
All the love she had,
Has not turned cold.
