unlocked

a deep breath
a shudder
you invade my system
with maddening
propulsion of heart
that can only
be described
as love

a whisper
a sigh
all the denial
we hold
so tightly
by design
can only betray us
in the end

your intrusion-
forcing your way
in to my thoughts
blocking my way
to the rational
and stretched far
beyond the bounds
of reason

warning signs
flashing all around
every red flag
waving furiously
before me
and all I can do
is continue
to invite you in

beginning with the title

beginning with the title (which drew me into the poem), its an interesting exploration of unlocking the doors to our intimate selves when we let someone in - regardless of potential consequences. an issue of trust, which can easily be violated. another take on the title would be the process of unlocking that door to let ourselves out - to take risks with intimacy, with exposing our innermost thoughts and feelings to someone else. Like poetry. All in all, I enjoyed your poem Frost.

you got it.

that was basically the idea, indeed...as also pertaining to the title. thanks for taking the time to read it and to offer comments. I personally think it's a crap poem for the most part. I used to be able to put out decent poetry but for about a year now, everything that comes out is pretty lame.

this was just a stab at trying to make something out of nothing. There are actually some decent posts of mine if you dig through the archives....I hate that any new comer (I know you've been around)would think this is the quality of my writing.
I suppose it's a process and right now I'm in the hideous stage of drivel. This too, hopefully will pass :)

wow--especially the second stanza. i enjoyed it, frost. by no means hideous drivel!

hey, thanks for the vote of confidence in the piece. I appreciate it. You know how those low days of writing go, maybe-when you know you're just not up to par...

It is cool to hear it's not as bad as I thought it was. You pointed out my favorite part.

life is full of possibilities and the thrill of the unknown is so great.

I loved this one

This is great it reminds me of the passion that drives us to do things that we really don't want, but have to do, because of overwhelming desire.

ah yes...

overwhelming desire...a driver indeed.
