give them grace

save them, Father,
when I think of them-
pitiful children
opened eyed and mouthed

with bellies lacking substance
despite the mediocre efforts
of rice and grain relief
we do our part?

starvation only shut out
by blinded eyes
closing doors
and turning backs

we all have a hunger inside of us
some are easier to feed than others
but I believe in my heart
that there is plenty to go around
