dancing without you

I still go through
the motions
as though my movement
alone
will make us dance
again

you watch me
with glazed eyes
and only moderate
interest
in what I will do
next

I am sliding by you
closer and more gracefully
than ever before
hoping
you will be my partner

before someone else
notices the beauty
of my movement
attracting
