the makings

you thought you were the creator
but I assure you, I am of my own making
masterfully, you tried to craft me
to make me in to the the structure
that would bear the weight of your needs

I let you borrow me shortly
the ladder on which you climbed
trying to reach something
that does not even exist outside yourself
and you gladly used me

but when it all comes down to basics
I am the better carpenter between us
so I took back what was mine and
buffed the parts you had worn
which made me shine brighter than ever
