healing winds

no one knows the distance the wind blows
to carry the clouds across the sky
to offer shade to the sun, whose fever
keeps him smothering most of the time
and in the shadow of the clouds
its breeze kisses the sun's forehead
like a mother does her sick child

relieved, the sun relaxes
and enjoys the cooling for awhile
after the fever breaks, the wind
carries its sun down and tucks him
safely in to bed for the rest of night
that allows him to rise the next day
feeling well enough to shine
