empathy & sympathy

the two are close in some
ways, both dealing with an
emotional state or three and
then they are so different at the
same time in multiple ways and
the difference weighs on my mind
and time slips forward as breaths of
earth song laughter feeling back away.

empathy filled, he felt the sympathy they
felt toward him and it was like a negative
feedback loop and the sound was horren-
dous, hollow and mechanical -  like a sho-
far too near for comfort.
