if snowflakes were words

if snowflakes were words
the way they rain down on
your face would be a play
on words that eventually
would wander away and

if snowflakes were words
what massive works of poetry
would i construct - like children
building snow forts of tightly
packed snowflakes i would
construct a fortress of words
that would have everyone in
the neighborhood in awe at
the structure and practicality

if snowflakes were words
they would try to blur the
windshield as i made my
way to you, but like an
editor the wiper blades
would whisk them a-
way, and in a way

if snowflakes were words
our work would be cut out
for us as the thoughts fell
from the sky, each unique
and special and so fleeting
as soon as they touch the
earth or a human so hot with
the heat of life that they melt
and become part of the cycle
to be reborn as snowflakes
or words yet again, recycling.

I'd love to see this little community "lively up" again. of course, maybe I only say that because, since last summer, I've found the time. the previous two years I was waaaaay too busy with other stuff. but still, being involved in a poetic community inspires poetry. frankly, poetry is a social activity. it has its private moments, and private expressions, but, as an art form, its always been social.
