hunger

forgetting to eat
or not feeling like it
an empty pit in the
stomach - feeling
like an asshole
for feeling hurt

my stomach growls
calm down i tell it
as if it can listen

beyond the physical
hunger is an even
larger emotional
hunger that i have
and perhaps it is
because i have
spent so many
YEARS of my
life alone and
on my own -
you would
think i could
accept it and
just move on ...

hunger grows
hunger shows
hunger knows
