space man abides
trapped with one foot
on the earth and the
other in outer space.
not the solar system,
but way out there where
stars collide and it's es-
pecially cold and barren.
and it's a feat to be able
to exist in two realms at
once, but as the planet
spins, my foot slips off.
earthbound dreamer,
downtown feeler,
terrestial feeder;
all these things
let me know
where my
home is
all these things
all these human
things - emotions,
feelings, thoughts,
complex interactions
of heavenly bodies -
rotating, swinging,
collapsing, filling,
avoiding the black-
hole at the center
of the universe at
all costs lest the
gravity strong
enough to
bend both
space and time
captures and
pulls in, drags
in, captures,
extinguishes.
space man is
hardy, though,
hardly unable
to exist alone
he thrives on
the solitude
whilst in space
surrounded by
extraordinary
events - while
earthbound,
though, the
constant gravity
reminds him of
that blackhole,
nameless but
destructive,
pulling him
toward the
event horizon.
space man is
unique, unable
to choose between
the stars and space
and the place on earth
he calls his temporary
home - dwelling - abode.
space man abides.
