Book poetry #2: Middletown

middletown was

a political town/

city to say

the very least.

i mean,

i remember

twenty six years

ago she said, in response

to a gentleman from pittsburghs

rough comments about local politicians

arguing and creating havoc.

she'd moved to florida for unknown reasons

twenty-six years ago

and now was back

in town so to speak,

speaking her mind.

she stood out to me

immediately as the

first female techie to

be there. she smiled,

her face wrinkled with

laugh lines, the good kind,

and she made her way over

and i shot her a card.

'quick on the draw'

she said later when

i decided to sit next to

her in the conference

room - anyway, we

chatted a bit - she an

independent web

contractor at, shall i say,

well over thirty ;)

this also interesting

in a room full of white male

suits.

two other women eventually arrive

and dive into the free food - lavish

extremes. (will the leftovers be shipped

to Jenin or Afghanistan or thrown out? i

wonder now, later - having a few cookies

and being half business earlier...)

will write to her about her site

sometime maybe.

is this a poem or

moment in middletown

in preparation for the book?

warmup poetry leading to?

of any use to any of you?
