my window faces east
so as the sun descends
the trees are lit up (brilliant,

as if descended from a british
sitcom)  just for a few minutes,

stretched out, watching that fade,
to be replaced by no shadows,
but everything duller, darker.

i probably watch these sunsets
moreso than the sunrises.
