4-brane

what lies up there, then?
the fifth and above
dimension we cannot
yet clearly fathom, but
think must surely exist to
explain (this) (this) and (this)?

a "spatially extended,
mathematical concept"
saying i exist in three
physical dimensions
with time (moving
forward, relatively)
as my fourth. some,
though, see beyond
just the physical reality
into the other p-branes
higher on the scale and
those pieces of reality
surely must exist if even
the scientists now can see
what the poets have known
for years and years since
first crawling around the
planet called Earth.

Moon comes in through
the window shades slightly
as i, merely a poet, try to
fathom their M-theory that
strives to combine everything
and explain it all away into numbers.

and the thing is, there are numbers,
but the equations we know can't begin
to explain how it all fits together, all
this matter (connected together) floating
in multiple dimensions forward (and perhaps
backwards?) in time and i lose my place in
line in my mind and the moon's glow lets
me know it's late and words continue to
pour forth.

poor fourth-
dimension
locked souls;
nowhere to go,
nowhere to roam,
no place near sol,
no place like home.
