possibilities
the poet sees
perhaps many
different avenues
for how something
might go down or
might play out
over time and
sometimes
some men
of words
jump in
making
quick decisions,
feeling each as a
malleable force upon
your physical skin, that
thin frail veil of existence
against which we exist
less then a molecule
apart from - so close -
...so far some have
sought to see through
several possibilities to
one wherein there's a
sense of utter and deep
fulfillment.
there is the fear of going too
far into the future, though, where
events are hazy by our sight at
best and at worst we never
see future moments but
shape them as we press
up against the skein of
the now, the present of
our existence, the unique
nature of our beings - and
if we as humans try to strain
our minds too far in possible
futures, what we see becomes
purely fantasy, perceived notions
of possible realities.
and if there are these
varied ways of concentrating
on time (past, present, future),
there is no one single point from
where best to follow your path.
for example, you have to not
be bound by your past, but
you must also learn from
it or you are doomed to
repeat it sisyphus style
til the end of time. and
you must live somewhat
in the present, making
lightning quick decisions
(like which key on the
keyboard to press next)
but if you concentrate too
much on the very edge
of perception of time
you stumble around
not seeing the forest
for all the trees. and
finally, as mentioned,
you need to look into
the possible futures and
try to choose the one
which aligns with your
special path through
life, but not so much
as you forget the here
and now and all this seems
so simple and practical, but
to stop and think and draw
mental images upon the
words, seeing the language
of time and the color of
the universe and that
color being your favorite.
the possibilities of being
human are limitless and
limited at the very same
the human limited time.
time limited the human.
profound possibilities,
though, existing within
this very same space.
