muncie drive by

out the house
out the driveway
down the street -
a stop sign stop
and go a stop-
light stop &
go no human
knows
truly
what it
means
to be me.

over the bridge and there's two security guards from the park
looking over into the water. has someone fled? i thought at
first (realizing now it made no sense) and then around the
bend several police cars with a teen in cuffs, patting him
down. must've tossed something, i guess. a muncie
drive by the river, thru the poor areas of town
road politeness. a wave. a pull-out in front and then
a 'no, go ahead, you're right.' so i do and return and
the driveway is the same and
the house is the same and
the moment alone is the
same and no on truly
knows what it means
to be me and tired &
oh so lonely as they
sometimes sing it.
