poetry in the atmosphere

trees as love -
each leaf a piece
of love -
changing colors,
renewing

fall almost upon us -
the autumn time -
cool, crisp winds
and a realness you
can feel in the air

snow falling, a million
flakes all different,
landing on your nose
and melting one by one

and as they come down
in different parts of
the planet, they somehow
connect us, these thousands
of ice crystals - sending love
from me to you and from you to me

looking up and seeing them come down -
like you're racing through a tunnel -
like there's motion even if you're
standing still

back to autumn, though,
being able to control and
condense time via love

floating through space and not
feeling the emptiness 'cause we're
together even so far apart

just a bunch of atoms between us -
knowing we're connected even so far apart

the ground i touch
and walk on the
same ground you
touch and walk on,
and cry on,
and bounce on

and in my mind i travel
all the known world and half
(two quarters)
of the unknown world not yet
explored in the depths of the ocean -
and pick one of each and every flower
to make a bouquet as has never been
seen before

and you press them in a book of poetry by
a 1000 souls in love and we know
they'll last forever that way -
even the smell, the scent...

and with a snap of my fingers and
a twinkle in my eyes, a million burros
appear to transfer our hurt and sorrow
from here to there and here to there -
as if while in transit between then and
now it can't hurt either of us anymore
