stargazer

stargazer,
night time
slayer of
words and
thought and
too often caught
at the wrong time
in his life - he was
able to see the far
away stars as if they
were near and the near
stars as if they were very
far and when he landed on
the planet earth he soon saw
that this power, this ability of his
translated to people as well and he
could see bad things as if they were
small things and good things as if
they were things that could truly
make the world a better place
and with the state of the world
in the state it was in (blue or
red) that was something to
behold. and he held him-
self with the ability to
phase into and out
of the earth bound
timeline so that
he could get
the words
just right
and the
inhabitants
of the planet
would under-
stand clearly
what he was
trying to relay -
the way his mind
didnt quit, didn't stop.

he missed losing himself
in some other life. he'd gotten
into a lot of trouble doing that,
though. mixing with humans.
it was all fun and games til
someone got hurt. and it
was usually him as the
women couldn't breathe
methane that was so
prevelant on his home
planet so far away. so
he became stargazer,
that teller of tales on the
planet too human to be
otherwise and too alien
to be able to escape the
thin atmosphere of the
earth he knew, the earth
he had drew back home
on his walls at night as
he vowed to travel the
stars to see the home
planet one time before
the forces in the uni-
verse were able to
wear his body down
completely and he
expired like milk
left too long in the
fridge. he forgot
sometimes that
as a human he
needed energy
from ingestion
of matter and
liquids and
the star-
gazer was
made of star
dust, the matter
of which the uni-
verse is made up.

verses made up.

stargazer, tell me your
name, they asked of him
and he didn't know if he
remembered how to
even correctly pro-
nounce it any-
more. so he
broke it down
as simply as he
could and with a
few hundred thou-
sand words he built
castle that explained
his real name, his secret
name.

he didn't know how much longer
he would survive in this physical
state with the energy of Sol, the
planet earth's rare single sun,
but he knew he had an im-
portant task. a potent way
to mask his true identity
and release the poetry,
the universal language
of sounds and vowels
and colors and tastes
of words.

with the tools available to him
he couldn't transcribe the whole
sensation of all the human emotions,
so he often sat and gazed up at the stars,
wondering exactly what force or circumstance
had stranded him here.
