patience of the moon

there she was,
trying to call her
boyfriend to break
up with him when in
the future the satellite
Mixed up the signal and
sent her to the moonbase
where charles whitemore the
fourth was taking care of things
on the moon for the corporations
a 12 year sentence or work release
program if you will and he wrote some
poetry on the moon, the words adding up
and then her call came in one day and his
entire life was changed. it was a mistake, a
crossing of the wires, but there she was talking
to him on the company's dime through a mistake
and they talked for about 2 hours that first night and
before he slept, he had rigged an antenna on the ridge
of a crater that pointed to the earth and every 12 hours or
so he had a window through which to send her messages
and the words he sent her and the words she sent him for so
many moons so to speak. the beat & the backdrop of the stage
on which he played and the way in which she remembered not
only his name, but other facts as well. then after 4 long years,
he was sent back to earth and he rushed and raced to her
house, knocking on the door...
