Some Up-Sides to the Color Yellow

Yellow is a warm fabric of
infant blankies, and
teen sweatheart sundresses. Van Gogh util-
ized it to
elucidate our pu-
pils to the
delicacy
of fragility. Yellow robes
cautions and smileys.
My
friend
Neal—his sister took my virginity—sported yellow
sneakers. It’s multiple shades adorn beaming
sunrises, sunsets, sunshowers…when rainstorms
gradually die, and swords of light
pierce holes in the
stormclouds, a sparkling
amber
sheen might superim-
pose a rainbow
in the sky. Elderly
widows lumber down country
passes, with
basketfulls of sun-
flowers for their
rapidly growing grandchildren.

for me, yellow is the cornfileds of the Indiana summers of my youth.
