moon light
moon bright
only moon
i see tonight

fight moon
tight moon
moon flight
tongue tied

moon work and the loss of it

that was the way to explain it perhaps -
the loss of it - the build up to the
moment - the peaks of pleasure
and then the sudden and intense
drop back to the lunar surface to
inhabit his own skin and see
the reality seeping from the
walls around him and there
are times when even sleep
does not offer solace from
the come down, from the
loss of it - be it Christmas
morning joy or her presence -
and her presents in the present
cause me to falter and stumble

she peers into me,
she pours into me
like lemonaid or tea
on a hot summer's day
and i love the way the
weight of the world
just goes away
and the sway
of the silence -
a careful balance
of anticipation and
endurance - patience
wrapped in an essence
of various immediate
moments and me-
mories, come
with me, share
those stories,
and wherever
the wait went

partial thoughts
and it ceases

images and thoughts
assault his network
neural connections

time and happiness
mixed metaphors
of fog and snow
and some ice

words and emotions
run rampant through
his mind or what's
left of it - right of
it - above and
or below it

stutters and stammers
trying to get it out - let
it out - shout about
the rings around
certain planets
devoid of mass

future tense

one day
(or night.
hard to tell
now) the sudden
vacuum of space pop-
ped his ear drum. outer
exposed to inner. nanites
began to repair the bone,
but as he walked the dull
metal lined walls to the
hub of the station, he
heard a whirring, wooshing
sound in his right ear. a
constant inrush of air.

that or his brain was
leaking out his ear-
hole. black as night,
the absence of light.

how ridiculous and
clownlike i must
seem from the
outside. and
maybe the
inside too
and the
way...
the way
you weigh
the options...
the way you think
and don't sink to new
heights or other such
nonsense.

if a poet can feel the
world more intensely,
the here and now,
surely looking to
the past is the
same in a way.

the loneliness of outer space
is nothing compared to the
bleak places in between
spheres representing
who we are as in a
diagram i thought
up the other after-
noon on the couch
looking out the
window dreaming
again before the boss
showed up (haha) and
around these spheres
(as who we are) are our
friends and other people
who are in our lives, and
they revolve around, some
having an orbit around more
than one sphere. and the image
